My name is Kristal Rainey-Anderson. I have been making reborn dolls since 2010. I currently live in North Texas with my Husband, two children, my mother and our 6 dogs. I sometimes offer private lessons in my home or online through video chat. I can be found on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
I have won multiple awards and have done prototypes for sculptors such as Laura Tuzio Ross, Melody Hess, and Jorja Pigott just to name a few. Most of the dolls that I paint have darker skin tones. I personally find it easier to paint a darker skin color than a lighter one. That’s not to say it isn’t more work, the darker the skin color the more layers you have to paint. My favorite part is doing the shading, that’s when you really start to see the baby start to come alive! I get goosebumps just thinking about it!
My interests are many, and I seem to have my hand in a little bit of everything. Over the past couple of years, I have been making things with my 3D printers. I love designing new things and coming up with improvements to things that already exist! For example, I designed, printed, and am now mass-producing 3D printed Rooting tools that can be found on my website. I have always enjoyed artistic things, even from a young age I showed interest in drawing and painting. I have no formal background in art other than high school art classes.
